TWO ADDITIONAL TEAMS ADVANCE
TO IGT GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP
May 12th, Puerto Los Cabos, San Jose Del Cabo. The inaugural event out of Puerto Los Cabos’ new marina establishes new high-tech advances for controlling big-game fishing events in Mexico.
The recent success of the Puerto Los Cabos Billfish Classic again demonstrates International Gamefish Tournaments’ commitment of leading the way in designing the absolute best tournament formats to promote the conservation of our marine resources. IGT also introduced some new innovative procedures and controls to insure the launch of our first Mexico Tournament Series Event would maintain a high level of integrity. We remain dedicated and committed to maintaining our leadership role in conservation and technological innovation. We are the leader in producing world- class billfishing tournaments. Our events feature and are held at some of the finest World-Class Resort locations in México.
IGT’s introduction of our own camera chips, boat inspections each day, live bait limitations, our own trained “special observers” and our now famous “Orange Box” helped to make the First Annual Puerto Los Cabos Billfish Classic a complete success. Although there was some “Bad mouthing” from one of our competitors, a team that usually expects to win most events, we received nothing but rave reviews on our inaugural event and format. The following quote pretty much sums up all the compliments we received during the event and at the awards banquet: “This was a very well run, managed and organized event. The format really leveled the playing field and we had a blast. This is the kind of event and format we need to get more of the local boats involved in the future”, said Drew Andrews the Team Captain on the Get Over It.
The top seven teams combined for a total of 69 billfish releases out of the total 90 that were caught and released during the three day event. The top seven team’s catches and winnings were:

The entry fees, of $10,838 will be refunded to the five teams that were entered in those categories. Approximately $8,000 of quality fishing tackle, including two 130-pound class Penn reels and matching bent butt rods, were given away to participating team members as drawing prizes at the awards banquet.
By taking First and Second Place respectively, the Get Over It and the Fisherman automatically advance to the IGT Mexico Series Grand Championship in December.
